It was great for the first few months and I love it but the contention for the cord to the light is now loose (and it hasn’t really been used enough for that to be the case) so it’s nearly impossible to get the light to work now. It’s less than a year old and I’m looking to finding one with a better power connection rating. Overall I’d say for a first timer it’s good for the price but don’t expect it to last very long.

Need it for videos with most of the footage shot with camera facing down onto work surface. The tripod assembly is very light weight (and prone to tipping when fully extended.) The adjustment screws used to position the light ring and camera are plastic and don’t hold the ring and camera in the proper position when I rotate the light ring 90 degrees from vertical (facing down.) 12 inch ring is too small – go bigger. Light output just barely enough.
